In Loving Memory 3/09 - 6/09

Gump was such a great dog. I loved spending time with him and seeing how much he loved parents and how much happiness he brought to them.
I was very lucky to have been able to watch Gump when they went away. He loved the car rides, the belly rubs and the “greenies”.
Although he was only with our family for seven months, I am so grateful that Gump knew what it was to have a loving family and to live in a great home. He will be in my heart forever

Our deepest condolences.

My wacko Rocco -- you were thought of daily from the time you left our home. When I think of all the crazy things you did, I can't help but laugh and sing "my" Wacko Rocco song!
We missed you and loved you -- We don't know when you passed, and were so sad when we found out. Having taken you in from a bad situation we gave you the best that we had to offer. After a year, we knew you needed a quieter home and more time so we contacted HeavenSent. They helped in re-homing you to a loving family! They were so excited to have you and love you! We heard that you were a great well adjusted dog and we could not have been more proud of you! Knowing that brings us comfort in our decision to re-home you and your sudden passing. We are better off for having had you in our life. You unconditionally loved everyone… You now join Blizzard on the other side of the rainbow Bridge! I know you are together, running, playing and snoozing together once again!
Blizzard -- It will be one year since your passing on April 29. You are missed every day. We know you are taking good care of Rocco and that the two of you will be watching over us as our DOG ANGELS.
We love you both!

Dear Friends of Heaven Sent Bulldog Rescue,
I have written six pages about Tank (to us, Hurley) and I just can’t quite put to paper who this little guy was. I don’t know if I can possibly convey just how special, funny and loving he could be. I think you had to know him to understand all the tiny things that made up his huge personality. He was all at once, playful, strong, stubborn and sweet. What he never was, was sad. Through everything he went through, he always had a skip in his step, a glimmer in his eyes and a lot of love to give. I wanted to take a moment to share some of my favorite memories about him:
Every day, while I worked in the office, he would jump on the chair and insist on attention.
He would ignore my calls until he realized I had something he wanted, then come tearing around the corner to get at it.
During the day he would growl at anyone who came near his bed, but at night, he would make room for the other dogs so he had somewhere to lay his head while he slept.
He would pee on anything he didn’t want to share with the other dogs.
When he was thirsty, he’d climb the toilet in our bathroom and get up into our sink because he knew that was where water came from.
He would ignore me when I called for him to come in at night but come running like the wind when I turned out the lights and closed the door.
He would sit outside the bathroom door and knock with his paws while I was in there.
Sometimes he would get in and wait for me while I was in the shower.
When I took baths, he would try to climb in.
He would never throw up on the outside deck; he’d wait until he was inside the house, on my carpet.
He loved chasing tennis balls and you could hear the “thump” of his head hitting into the walls when they got away from him.
If he knew I had medicine for him, he would run away and hide under furniture.
He loved BBQ and almost took my finger off the first night he tried it.
Since he didn’t have a tail, he would wag his whole butt doing a little dance.
And my most favorite memory of all:
He would nuzzle my neck when I got home and kiss me while snorting in my ear.
We were so lucky to have shared in this sweet little man’s life and he will remain with us forever. I miss watching him in the mornings; sleeping in his sun beam. I miss him in the afternoons when he would chase a ball around the house and then pass out for a nap. And I miss him in the evenings when he would climb on my lap, lay his head on my shoulder and snore in my ear. He was my “Snuggly Buggly”.
We were so lucky to have taken in Hurley and we hope that others might read this and consider taking a less than perfect animal too. They have so much to offer and just need someone to share it with. He was not just a sick dog that we took care of. He was a fantastic dog who happened to be sick. In the short time we had him, he filled us with love and joy and we are changed in so many good ways because of him.
We would like to thank Kara and all the volunteers at Heaven Sent, who take in any Bulldog and believe they are worthy of a second chance.
