The Rainbow Bridge Poem.

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

In Memory of Nino

Nino was the best dog ever. He was famous in our neighborhood and everywhere we went everyone fell in love with him instantly.

From the day he came home with us he was our family, and we loved him so much. He was so funny and sweet, the most handsome gent, super smart, and just had so much personality. A senior but always a puppy at heart. He loved to have his bath, and to play, and get belly rubs and cuddle up on the couch. He would do anything for a cookie and was a tug-of-war champ. He always liked to get all tucked in at night under his special blanket, and pose for pictures for his friends at heavensent. On weekends down the shore, he loved to sit at the door or on the deck and watch the boats go by, and just sniff at the salty air.

Nino was happy and smiley, and definitely the pampered king of our house, until his health issues got the best of him over Thanksgiving '08. We can honestly say that we are so thankful to have met this amazing boy, and to have had him as part of our family. We didn't have Nino for all that long, but he touched our life in such an amazing way and will never be forgotten.
